The authors of Making Good Money in Belfast are some of the most experienced practitioners in Northern Ireland in initiating, establishing, managing and developing social economy projects and businesses.

This social economy management expertise is made available to other organisations through the consultancy and support services of Avec Solutions.

While some of this experience has been gained in a consultancy role with others most has been gained by ‘doing’ – we don’t try to tell you how we think it should be done – we share our practical experience of having done it.  And what’s more we haven’t always done it right, but importantly have learned a huge amount from our mistakes.

In addition to consultancy work with individual organisations, we also have developed a one day ‘social economy learning experience’ , involving the authors along with our finance manager, looking in depth at our social economy projects.

You will see and hear how the projects started, how and from where funding was secured, what obstacles and problems we met, how the businesses are managed and developed, what structures are in place, how much profit is generated, etc.

Included in the package will be full documentation, including memorandum and articles of association, accounts, business plan, management accounts and, if requested, copies of funding applications.

The social economy learning experience is best suited to groups of people, for example your committee or a network of organisations and is usually offered on site at our Avec Solutions base where you can see much of the activity first hand. 

If a one day package is not suitable for you we can also discuss more flexible arrangements, and can also add in visits to other social economy centres.
